Hi! I’m Rebekah.
For me, being a therapist is more than a career. It’s a calling. And it’s one that I’m so happy to answer here in Central Kentucky, the place that’s always been home.
With the exception of my college years at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, I’ve spent nearly my entire life in Campbellsville. It’s where I grew up, met my husband, raised my babies. And so, when God gave me the dream of opening a counseling practice that would enable me to offer more compassionate, customized treatment, there was no question that Campbellsville would be its home, too.
That dream was one that was born out of a search for a better way. During my time in graduate school, as I completed my Master’s in Counseling, I began seeing clients in a community mental health setting focused highly on productivity and efficiency. It wasn’t long before I started to feel the weight of that business model; schedules that crammed sessions into 30 minute timeframes with no time build relationships did not feel like the type of therapy I so desired to offer my clients. As I looked around and realized this was the industry standard, I felt a divine nudge to create something new; a way to provide the type of care I would want. And so, in 2011, with three young children and an extremely supportive husband, I took a big deep breath, a huge leap of faith, and walked away from a steady job to follow God’s lead and start Renew Counseling Services.
As I think back about that beginning, and look at where we are today, I’m filled with gratitude and humility. My family, friends and community have been so supportive in my endeavors. And God has remained so kind and gracious to walk with us every step of the way.
I’m so proud that, over the years—as we’ve grown, moved locations, seen hundreds of clients—we’ve remained true to that original goal to provide therapy that values people over productivity, relationships over bottom lines. By leveraging a variety of traditional and non-traditional modalities, and continuing my education to become Level 2 Trained in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, I’m able to offer clients truly customized care as a partner and resource. That really is my dream come true, and an honor that I don’t hold lightly. Thanks for letting me share a bit of my journey with you; it would be my privilege to walk alongside you in yours.
Fun Fact: I’m a book-lover and a dog mom! My favorite spot? Snuggled up on the couch with something new to read and my pups, Tank and Gertie (pictured above).
